The survival mode is fairly fun for a quick pickup game. I don't think I would go out of my way to invest hours in any of them, but it's fun when you only want 20-30 min of L4D play seeing as vs or campaigns are a 1.5h+ commitment.
The best ambush I've seen so far is the smoker pulling a survivor through the metal detector in Dead Air vs. It was pretty epic to be on the receiving end of that one. Also, there's a kill spot on Dead Air one where you can smoker a guy off the rooftop..been fun playing around with new maps.
