I was surprised to see it was over, my interest in those matters has been at best minimal. That would explain the flood of commercials touting blue ray out there.
The problem(s) with the desktop drive option is all of the options that I found online use that new SATA connection, and it sounds like they need some seriously high system specs for smooth playback that are out of reach for me.
I would like to watch more than 2 or 3 short trailers (even just part of the mini-series) before buying the whole series; might not like it and waste some serious money.
The problem with the Blue Ray option is lack of a player, no real desire to upgrade from a fine regular Sony DVD player, and the high cost for the players.
My wife and I were considering buying a used HD DVD player for the bedroom (not getting a blue ray in there ever probably) that would replace a budget standard player that needs to go, and eventually a blue ray for the front room. I see no practical purpose for buying a blue ray to watch Chaplin, the Marx Brothers, silent films, and others similar pieces of work that are my main interest in film and DVD when available. Makes as much sense in buying some uber expensive 7.1 audio setup to listen to Golden Age of Radio shows.
anyways, thank you for confirming what I was 98% sure of already, bye for now.
