From what I understand, Fox ordered 13 episodes from Whedon. Whedon made 14 episodes. Fox didn't like the Pilot so they didn't show it. That makes 12 episodes that Fox owns. Whedon or whoever still owns the 14th episode un-aired stand-alone episode. I agree, It's a little confusing.
Anyway, The show's getting so much better. Tonight's episode was my favorite. They were right about the 5th episode being the beginning of the good stuff. If it'd been the first or second episode, the show would be much higher on ratings methinks.
