I honestly have no blind spot. I adjust my mirrors so that car moves seamlessly from the rear view mirror to the side mirror and then into my peripheral vision. I did a lot of long distance driving when I was younger and mastered the mirror arranging challenge to keep me busy so I'd stay awake. I am now quite obsessive about it. I do occasionally glance over my shoulder before switching lanes, but it is not a necessity.
