I'm not the best driver. Needless to say, I don't volunteer to be the driver if there is a choice. When we had 2 cars we took whichever car had the most gas or was the most convenient.
If going on a road trip we switch off, but he generally drives more because I have a nasty (and unsafe) habit of dozing off behind the wheel.
When growing up my dad generally drove and scared the holy shit out of me. Now my mom drives and it's a much better experience for everyone involved I believe. My dad doesn't get yelled at and my mom doesn't have extra gray hair from fear.
I never saw it as a gender thing, just a who feels like doing this nasty little chore of going from one place to another. I despise driving which is why I love living in Chicago so much. My feet or the bus drivers take me where ever I need to go and I don't care if the driver is male or female.
