I know Leno tapes, I didn't know Obama apologized BEFORE the show aired. That changes my opinion about things a tad bit. Now I wonder how much was set up to draw audience "hey Martha, the prez made a gaffe he had to apologize for, we need to watch this", attention to a Kennedy cause (not that it isn't worthy of attention, it is a very good organization), and Obama trying to stoke his image as a "regular" guy, even one who makes mistakes and admits them.
Hmmm... course I see conspiracy in everything. I mean no one would have just thought of editing that little gaffe out like they have been known to do for true "stars".

It wasn't the Tonight Show, it was the Arsenio Hall Show. And Clinton got a lot of flak from his own party for that appearance. Something about petty pandering for votes. But yes, it was very cool and helped his image with younger voters.
