Good choice. Canon went to a CMOS sensor a while ago. It's a much better image sensor than the traditional CCD. Nikon is just now catching up. They're using the CMOS in the D300 and D90. You can get away with a much higher ISO because theres so much less noise. Also, you can take much longer exposures. (and you can use your D50 lenses)
