any question of 'am i committing a crime' should not even be asked. madoff knew what he was doing was wrong.
so, if I was in his shoes, I would NOT have 'hoped' I would never be caught. I would have planned on my scheme eventually failing and me being found out, so I would have had contingency plans set up for just that eventuality.
would I run? damn skippy.
