You may be fighting an uphill battle, smell-wise. Dogs will poop in areas where they've smelled that other dogs (or themselves) have pooped. You might try saturating that particular area of your yard with ammonia. Dogs' olfactory capabilities are, after all, hundreds of times stronger than ours. Imagine getting a few hundred whiffs of ammonia all at once. Dogs don't like it, either.
Careful, though - a little ammonia is good for your grass; too much will burn it, due to the high nitrogen content.
Or . . . .you could try the peanut butter trick, and laugh while you watch the piles being eaten and carried away.
