I just got a Wii the other day. The GF hit 3 stores before finding one.
The games are simplistic but they are a lot of fun. The GF is even playing (and routinely kicking my butt in bowling) and she never plays any type of game, be it console, PC or online.

From what I've read about the Wii, they are insanely popular in senior housing/nursing homes. Its used as a way to get a little exercise and social interaction.
