My understanding is that older manual focus lenses are FD mount and not compatible with the EF mount. Nikon has basically never changed their mount, although some adjustments have to be made for mirror location with lenses from before 1980. In other words with a Nikon camera you can use older manual focus Nikon lenses, but with a Canon you can't.
