No, no, not so.

It's more or less the same principle with many things we put into our mouths: it's to enhance the taste/experience. The beer in question is quite delicious without added fruit.

I wouldn't say it's needed.

What's a bit of a requirement for me, however, is that I can't stand certain cheap beer. I'd rather not drink it if it doesn't taste good. I don't drink to get drunk. (It just tends to happen.)
