Most "good" massage oils I've seen use either sweet almond oil or light sesame oil as the carrier oil, not regular vegetable oil. I don't recommend using regular vegetable oil as a massage oil; there are much better choices out there. Olive oil may be nourishing, but it has a strong odor compared to light sesame oil or sweet almond oil, and does not necessarily make a good carrier oil. Light sesame is used in Neutrogena's body oil (I love their unscented kind). Both light sesame oil and sweet almond oil can typically be purchased in bulk at any hippie food co-op, along with essential oils.

I like to use lavender. It's relaxing, and it goes with my other natural bath and beauty products.
