Living in Wisconsin, i've heard that line umpteen times. I think its repetition illustrates my point about people getting upset about Favre defying workplace & class authority. I don't know why that bugs people so much. Jealously, i suppose, but a little organising, and they wouldn't have to prostrate themselves before the Boss, either.
Anyway, Thompson gave Favre an artificial deadline and told him he was sending his locker to him in Mississippi /before/ the retirement. Favre did what he could to keep playing ball. The Packers could have simply released him -- after all, he wasn't good enough for McCarthy or Thompson -- but since they refused, he had to force a move on their part.
