I agree a "sports car" must have two seats only...at least that's my definition and I'm hardly ever wrong. Speed, handling, other factors don't determine "sports car" even if some sedans or GT cars exceed the performance of a less noble sports car.
Even though I don't like them, I'm sure there were quite a few FF sports cars....e.g., the late model Mercury Capri was one:
