I don't know about the chest question, but I can second the joy of shaved pits. Luckily I don't have enough chest hair to worry about. Pay attention to bodybuilders and martial arts types in movies. That might give you an idea of what hairless would look like. Of course, you won't have an army of stylists oiling you up between every scene, so YMMV...
