i believe the 285 is the 280 with a smaller processor...the 55nm version. in the case of the 260 they made chip smaller but they also diminished the fan, making it about the same temp, somehow they also made it less overclockable (from reviews i've read, probibly because of the smaller fan.) It doesn't make sense to me that this should be a cheaper card because the 55nm chips are cheaper to make, instead they are 50 dollars more than thier power hungry 65nm brothers. So i think i'm waiting for the GTX260 core 215 to come down. it has better power saving tech and i think it'll still be a viable card a year or so from now, unlike the 9800 GTX+ which seems outdated (it's a 8800 w/ hybrid tech). and if you're gunna spend the money on a 295, wait til the end of the year, the 300 series will be out and it'll support DX 11.
