Marco Antonio Barrera vs Amir Khan
Very exciting fight. Amir Khan took a real set back when got sparked by Breidis Prescott but the warning signs were all there in a previous fight last year when Michael Gomez (a tough but light punching UK level fighter) put him down before Khan got off the floor to beat him. The fact is there is a lot of doubt about Khan's ability to take a punch, and a lot of people will question his decision to take on a legend like Barrera.
He does have a lot of power himself, and is a slick boxer, but I think Barrera has too much. Some people think maybe Barrera is on the way down, but I think he is too good for Khan, and probably in his mid 30's better than Khan will ever be. But is a great matchup with some intangibles... Barrera is taking a risk too by matching himself against a hungry young guy who he knows can box and bang. Khan is taking a big risk - but the one thing I like about the guy is he doenst duck people he is taking big fights rather than claiming he deserves a world title shot when he has done nothing (like other UK Olympians - ie Fraudley Harrison)
If you could give Khan a decent chin and a couple more years experience, maybe he could be a real champ - I guess the worry if the one place you cant put muscles on is your chin. But Khan is a naturally bigger man, and he has a punchers chance, and is slick and a good enogh boxer to mix in this class.
