My spleen flipped over on itself, cut off its blood supply and became septic when I was in the womb. The swelling this caused lead a radiologist to tell my mom that her sonogram results either showed she was having twins, or that her fetus would be born without a head.
I don't know exactly what my
Apgar score was at birth, but it wasn't good. They operated to remove my dead spleen immediately after I was born, and I turned out just fine.
