As to Office 2007 being too complicated, with too much of everything: all versions of Office are complicated, with many options; it is simply the new interface that seems to throw everyone off. If you are able to adapt to new things easily, then the new Office suite is quite impressive. If not, then there is no reason to upgrade from the 2003 suite, as it is perfectly acceptable.
