What Im worried about is sacking the coach when you dont have an upgrade already in place.
If they have the right guy lined up - it might not be bad
If this is a knee jerk reaction to a bad run at the end of the season - I dont agree with it.
I cant say I am as knowledgable as some people - I basically watch the Jets games online and try to check espn.com for news , Ive been to one game live in my whole life - but to me the Jets season was defined by the decision to sign Favre, for better or worse; trying to slot an ageing gunslinger into a "protect the ball" type of offense. I wont disrespect Brett as a person or a player because he is one of the best, but in the context and at this stage in his career - he wasnt the player for the Jets. They and he dont have long enough to build an offense around him, and he wanted to play different to the way they are set up to play.
People are too quick in my opinion to blame the coach, when a whole organisation doesnt quite make it.
As for the too aggressive/too conservative calls... its a matter of context. If you make the 4th and 2 its a genius call, if you dont its a dummy one.
I think why the Jets fell away is they just got into the wrong offense... its great playing champagne football and tossing 40 yard completions, but most times "stuff the ball up your jumper" style football wins games: and at the end of the day I would say that was because of signing a QB that can only really play that way nder pressure, rather than the failings of a coach.
