Make sure you uninstall the old drivers. Even if you already did that, uninstall the new drivers and reinstall them.
Usually, when it does that, you'll need to re-assign a drive letter from computer management, but 9 times out of 10, you don't have to do that if you do what I wrote above.
Basically, your computer is still seeing the old drive and (for some reason...?) gets hung up while assigning a new drive letter to it. I fix loads of computers here at work where it won't read peoples usb thumb drives.
