I'd imagine the Spartans had superior tactical organization over the Vikings.
They also had superior body armor and lived in a military society.
Vikings put down their war toys for most of the year. Spartans didn't.
...
And, if you believe the movie, the Spartans all had ripped abs and Kevlar body grease.
