I received the following notice when I signed on to my computer this morning. I have started to install updates manually, rather than automatically due to a problem I had.
my question is, it states in this notice that this service pack includes ALL PREVIOUSLY RELEASED UPDATES. So if that's the case, and I have installed
all previous updates, why do I need to install this one. It says it is going to take up to an hour or more for the installation.
Windows Vista Service Pack 1 includes all previously released updates for Windows Vista. Many of these updates are available to the public on the Microsoft Download Center and Windows Update, while others are only available to specific customers or partners. It is standard practice to include all of these updates in a Service Pack and as such they are included in Windows Vista SP1.
This document contains a list of these updates with links to their descriptive webpages on
Microsoft Help and Support. There are other updates in Windows Vista SP1 which have not be released as updates and therefore are not presented in this list.
