hey all...
so my mp3 collection is a bit of a mix of ripped cd's, downloaded files offered by dj's off message boards, some I have recorded off uTube or peoples myspace pages with audacity or other recording tools. some are recorded analog to minidisc and then uploaded back to my comp and converted from ATRAC to wav to mp3.
due to this mix of sources, the relative volumes of the files is different. annoying when I use my mp3 player on external speakers at work...causing me to run and change the volume.
so, I found mp3Gain to 'normalize' the volumes of all these files. this is freeware on sourceforge so I need to add that the the freeware thread.

has anyone used this ? it seems to be doing the job well and supposedly is a lossless and reversible process. I'm wondering if anyone has had a problem or has tips using it.
when it analyzes files it shows which are clipping. I'm surprised at how many files have clipping even though they may have been ripped at high quality settings.
