Well, I finally tried out the instead cups. They were OK I guess. I found the removal to be a little messy, and that would discourage me from using them outside home, but I guess maybe it's just inexperience with using them and might improve with practice.
The one area that they were fantastic was during sex. You can't feel it and no leaks at all. I'll keep using them if only for that.
