Awareness and The 4 realms
Years ago, I did the Tom Brown Tracker School. Going through some old shit, I found my notebook from it, and in my notes I found something I'd like to share about awareness.
For those who don't know, Tom Brown is this guy who, as a child, befriended an old Lipin Apache, one of the last Lipin Apache's, I think, who taught him all this stuff. The old guy is referred to as Grandfather. So, in my notes, when I say "grandfather said..." I am talking about the old Apache.
here it is, I'd like to know what you think:
The most critical off all skills is awareness, it is the doorway to the spirit. Humankind lives wihtin 4 worlds. To visualize this, think of a target with a thick bullseye, surrounded by 3 circles. Humankind lives in these 4 realms, but mostly in the center, never venturing out. The worlds are separated by veils, permeable, easily obtained. Within each world are 3 different areas, steps, thinner veils. The center world is where humankind lives today, grandfather calls it "land of the living dead." There is a greater world, a land where the spirit moves through all things. Humans are in "coffins of flesh."
Grandfather said, "man is like a sphere within spheres, an island. Man is separated from the other worlds by his beliefs, his mind. Men created a prison made of doubt, logic, and belief. [Tom had a student who did extensive research on bio-feedback and sold Tom on the idea. Tom did a lot of reading, studying, and testing of the theory and realized all the spritual things grandfather talked about were the same as biofeedback.]
You are not what you eat, you are what you think. We operate in "Beta," the lowest potential of awareness, the lowest potential to learn, the body is unable to heal, physical performance is impaired. At "Alpha," you are at the highest physical potential for learning and awareness. Solitude breeds "alpha." Solitude is an almost redundant characteristic in great authors, poets, and artists.
Meditation today is useless, it is spiritual masturbation. the "sacred silence" is how to get to Alpha.
The notes go on to explain that to get to alpha, you have to do what's called "foxwalk" where you walk slowly, your heel touching the toe of the first foot down, palms out, and you use "wide angle vision," meaning you start with a focus in tunnel vision, then you relax and slowly "open your vision," looking in the distance and actually using your peripheral vision as much as possible. Wide angle vision is looking past natural focus points, seeing as much as you can take in. Apparently, within 4 minutes of Foxwalk, you start to enter Alpha.
Sorry its a bit sketchy, I had to decipher my notes, the classes were all oral, we sat there writing like fiends, taking notes as fast and as accurate as possible.
It's an interesting concept, I just wanted to share it.
