I would think a healthy sustainable diet and exercise would be much better for you. It is hard to find good food out there though. It seems like everything is high in sodium, high fructose corn syrup, fat, cholesterol or something else that is bad for you. Most people either don't care, or don't want to be restricted in what food they can buy. And since it is cheaper for companies to make the unhealthy stuff, they stop making the healthy food.
The human body was made to go for days without food (but only 3 without water) The problem I see with this plan is that your metabolism will slow down and it will want to store more calories for the next time you do this. I also wonder how much water these people are drinking, because that can effect weight and what muscles are visible.
