I have a 8800GT from when they were not even on the shelves yet, and it's been a great card. It's old tech now, but still an awesome card.
I would look at newegg over bestbuy to see if you can get a better price (and a better model, no limits on what you can buy there). This is the section you want:

Find the budget range you want, then the card you want within that budget. If I were you, I would then push up to the next bracket and get a card from that range. Slightly over budget, but damn good hardware.
I am an evga fan because of the warranty and the step-up program. Never used it, but I like it anyways. I would get this card, specifically, unless you can go higher on the budget, in which case I would go for a newer model
