When I first started out with the Keeper, I trimmed it right away, I basically cut it as short as I could get away with and still get a good grip on it with my finger tips. I ended it trimming it at an angle so I had to snip little edges away after the first use because of scraping. That is actually one of the main reasons I was so excited about the DivaCup when I found it a year or so later - it comes already short and it has little ridges to make grabbing it easier.
