My god, I know this thread is old, but Sharon you say all the right things!
I think its fair to say everyone is built differently, but much of it is in the head as well. (both partners). With the same partner I've had awesome painless anal, and awkward, frustrating, painful (her). Anal is not something you can make someone like, they have to want it, if there is no trust, and no desire, they will have the exact experience they are expecting.
