While I'll admit that Avid's interface is a bit lacking, there is no better program for media management. What little I've done with FCP and Premiere, I'll stick to Avid. I can do things much faster and easier with Media Composer. The only thing that I like from Apple on that side is Motion. However, one thing I did think about is he could use After Effects for what he wants to do. I use it constantly and love it. Easy and not terribly expensive.
