In my experience (and based on the comments about the facilities at our gym that my wife passed on) the very fit want to show off, and the very fat don't care.
It's the medium women that hide in the changing room - and from what I understand, it's women like girl C in the "Chubby" thread who lack confidence - which just shows how fucked up body image is in our society.
