The same thing happened with Enterprise: as soon as the writing takes a huge turn for the better, it gets canceled.
Universe sounds too much like Voyager. Hopefully it will get better writing.

I can usually let the writing slide during anything Stargate. I'll admit I'm kind of biased towards it a little since I love it so much, but its not atrocious. I just love the humor that's always so present in anything Stargate, mixed with the formula for the show. Just makes for a good hour of tv
