My first taste was when I was 9 or 10... my stepdad let me try some of his beer. I was so disgusted I didn't touch the stuff again for almost 12 years. I remember mixing vodka & koolaid when I was about 12.
Actually getting drunk though? Ummm...18, I think. I don't think binge drinking had anything to do with it... I was just a lightweight.
I've read arguments for a sort of "learner's permit" for drinking. Like being able to drive when you're 15 but only with parents... you'd have a permit to drink at 18 (maybe as young as 16), but not at bars, and not after 11. It's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure it would work.
