I waited until I was 21 to drink. I have a long family history of alcoholism and so was leery to begin my own possible legacy of alcohol abuse without some sort of safety net, ie. a bartender or friend to watch me.
Turns out my fears were unfounded, however. My first experience was something of a disappointment, to be honest. I have an extreme tolerance for beer or alcohol of pretty much any form, so far. I have never gone past the "lightly buzzed" stage, and even to get there it takes about as much booze that would completely smash someone with an average tolerance.
