After Phelps's eight golds... (slightly offensive)
After Michael Phelps won eight gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the rest of the world began to protest that his participation in eight different events (4x100m medley, 400m medley, 200m freestyle, 200m butterfly, 4x100m free relay, 4x200m free relay, 200m medley and the 100m butterfly) gave him too many chances to win medals. Thus, various countries began to insist that certain other sports should have increased events too.
Brazil said that football (soccer) should now be divided into three-a-side, five-a-side, seven-a-side, and eleven-a-side events, on beach, indoor and grass surfaces.
China said that table tennis should be divided into penhold, shakehand, penhold doubles, shakehand doubles, penhold and shakehand mixed dobules events. In addition, diving should be divided into 1m, 2m, 3m, 4m, 5m, 6m, 7m, 8m, 9m, and 10m events.
Great Britain said that equestrianism should have separate events for white horses, black horses, brown horses, spotted horses, ponies and zebras.
Kenya said that long distance running should have separate events for 10,000m, 11,000m, 12,000m, 13,000m...
Thailand said that in addition to mens' and womens' events, a separate set of events for transvestites should be included.
Canada did not propose any new events, but loudly insisted that Michael Phelps is actually Canadian.
