Russian Delicacy of No-Shell Chicken Eggs?
A co-worker told me today about his Russian born mother's favourite childhood treat that she sorely wishes she could get here in Canada.
Apparently, there's a stage in a chicken egg's development before it's laid and before the shell is hardened at which they are very tasty in a unique sort of way.
You don't harvest them from live chickens but only find them by chance while butchering them.
Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? Was she pulling his leg? Eggs without shells?
I can't even imagine it, but I'm fascinated.
