The only thing I have to add is a trick to remove the pit.
Cut the avacado in half (lengthwise) then twist to seperate the two halves. Hold the piece with the pit facing you and smack the sharp part of the knife into the pit. Then twist the pit and the knife ... the pit will pop out attached to the knife.
I'm sure most of you know this trick, but I'm sure some noobies don't.
Try and buy your av's when they are rock hard and let them ripen in your house. (less people squeezing them=blemish free)
