Hoffman is my favorite actor. Next to him would be Paul Giamatti, Joaquin Phoenix, and Heath Ledger. All amazing method actors. Hoffman is tops though; by far.
And Will, I'm not sure what you mean by lowering himself; he's not some pompous prick. I think he could do to The Penguin (a british arms dealer or a mob boss) what Ledger did to the Joker and bring it some legitimacy.
Paul was my first pick for this actually. But Hoffman. Wow.
