That was my impression exactly. He is also an extreme introvert, as is Terry Gross. She was probably my most difficult interview ever, not because she's evil or anything, but because she's afraid of not being in control of the process.
It's become the cool thing for WaPo music reviewers to slam him, but seriously, this guy rocks.
