Surabaya is either the second or third largest city in Indonesia depending on what source you reference. I was there in 1984. It's a gateway to Bali. Used to be people would fly into Surabaya and drive, ferry over to Bali. Several of us from my ship took a day trip to Bali. It was nice but we were shocked beers were .50 ea. ".50! Each!?! OMG!" But the beaches were nice, topless too. Which was a plus for a 21 yr old Navy guy. Almost made the beers worth the price, ok it did make the beer worth the price.
Here's the maps the ship gave us when we got there:
And no they didn't hand out the cash, I just kept money from each country I visited. Not sure what a 1000 note is worth in Indonesia but if I kept it I'm guessing not much.
You're up gorgeous.
