I noticed the light getting brighter and brighter and pointed it out to my dad and we slowed down and watched it continue to get brighter and brighter until it started looking like huge headlights. It was coming right toward us but slowly did a 90degree turn and went along the road we were driving down. It couldn't have been going more than 25-30mph. We drove down the road and turned down another road and stopped as it passed right over us. It was barely 10-20 foot above the tree line. We could make out the body which was shaped like a large plane but couldn't really make out the wings due to it being so dark.
It's weird because I didn't know a plane of that size could stay in the air at such a slow speed and no idea why it was flying so low/slow in the first place.

Wow ... this is almost exactly what we (myself and a friend) saw one night. We were driving along one of the roads adjacent to General Electric Appliance Park in Louisville, KY. This place is a sprawling complex with it's own zip code and fire department. Across from GE was a farm. We noticed what we thought was plane or helicopter headlights banking toward us slowly in the distance. We slowed down to look, and your description was very similar except the shape seemed more delta-like... the silhouette from beneath was almost like the shape of a steam-iron. There seemed to be both fixed and moving search lights. It passed just above us at tree top level, very slowly and off over the GE plant... then disappeared in the distance. Not a sound. We called the police, airport, and Air National Guard without any confirmation of something "odd" in the sky that night. My friend was a total non-believer until that experience.
