abaya, not being a world traveler English is the only language necessary for functioning in Kansas, or Utah, or Michigan, or, or, or, or.. .you get my drift. Interestingly enough, in a place like northern Virginia, you almost have to know Spanish. And I am geographically disconnected fromboth Quebec AND mexico, so I really don't know what you want. When being confronted in the manner I was, and friends have been when travelling abroad - I, as an American, am clearly not the one with a "moral superiority".
