Those commercial get me rolling the eyes-my daughter alone has about 40 numbers in her phone, texts incessantly all day and night. "Five" friends? Those kids are sad...
I found a way to bypass any texting charges-I text thru Yahoo.

My messages go to the phone numbers I have stored in Yahoo and I get back replies in it. Most IM's offer that and 'm trying to get my daughter to utilize it more as she keeps going over her out-of-network allowance of 500 per month.
SM, that sure seems like a huge outlay in the beginning....
