I wonder what the evolution of this was? Did it start out being "hey can you adjust the contrast so she stands out more, you really can't see the look on her face very well" and end up being "hey is there any way to make OJ's mug shot look a little more evil?"
Or did the computer age simply take folks right to the latter?
