If the 60GB drive is okay, why can't you install it in the new one, backup the data to an external drive (or whatever), reinstall the 80GB drive and then restore the backup? I've never done it myself, but from perusing a couple of PS3 specific forums, it seems like this is pretty common. The only problem I can see is with the initial installation of the 60GB drive to the new PS3...I don't know if the drives are set up to be swappable like that from one console to another.

That was the original thought, but it seems from what I have heard from what I believe to be credible individuals that the data has some sort of DRM to keep it from being used on any console other than the one which originally wrote the data. Now mind you, my "credible sources" are those on the official PS forums who can actually type in complete sentences, don't use text messaging shorthand in every post, use a normal font and text color in their messages as well as not having 300 replies on the first page alone and none of them consist of anything other than the word lol.
