no I remember that recorder was on my old comp too. it's limited to 60 seconds (wtf ?!?)

I got the first result from google...a freeware but it didn't record anything...it generated a test file but the file in winamp was silent.

same w/ the sound recorder you just pointed out.

found my old SB install cd...can't see anything exploring it.

I don't know anything about the settings on the one in the old comp. I just found it in programs and tried it. pushed record and then named and saved the file. I don't know what it was "directed" to listen to.

hmmm. I'll try audacity again. I'd already uninstalled it.

ok I re installed it. I see the dropdown for mic or sterio mix and it's grey and un selectable. I don't see any settings or options to tell it what to listen too while recording.

So I also got Mymp3 here and nither this or audacity seem to allow me to choose "sterio mix" as a setup option.

ahh...seems to be working now. further tests needed
