Spoiler: David Tennant is in next week's episode, and has already filmed the Christmas special, as well as signing up for several specials next year.
The "regeneration" therefore can't go through fully, or gets undone by a McGuffin - my bet is that it's something to do with the Doctor's living hand from "The Christmas Invasion".
There's also the fact that the Medusa Cascade has been time stepped a second off reality, and that Dalek Caan broke into the time bubble that the Time War was trapped in - so it may well be that the entire story is in a non-universe.
