(Seinfeld was the first thing that came to mind).
I've never really had a nickname, but one friend in college that sticks out in my mind went by the nickname "Mud". The name I think came from either her tomboyish nature, or because she was geology major and constantly covered in her work. It took two years when her parents came to visit for homecoming that I finally found out her real name was Mary.
